Very inspirational article. Though I've been doing intermittent fasting for four years, I've always wanted to go on a longer fasting. I notice my boss goes to Koh Samui once a year and do a 7-day fasting, come back look slim, young and energetic.

Hey Sabine. So glad we have stayed in touch as well. I still see you in that funky red hat be-boppin' through Bali. As far as fasting goes, if you are feeling the pull, than I say move with it. Caffeine withdrawals will typically only last a day or two at the most. The cleansing crisis will usually last for 3 to 4 days depending on how deep of a fast you are wanting to go. If you are really concerned about caffeine withdrawals, you have a few other options besides Just being with it. 1. you could start reducing it gradually as much as before you start your fast. 2. accupunture and pressure points during the first few days of fast will help. 3. drink a bit of caffeine during the first couple of days of your fast. 4. use coffee enemas, which i highly recommend. These will all but eliminate most/all of your withdrawals symptoms. Hope this helps. Sending you love, Patrick

Hi Patrick,

I'm so happy to reconnect with you today. BTW, I love your posts and website. So much has happened since Bali 2 years ago... This week is my last week at work, YES, can you believe it? I was laid off and I know that it was divine intervention, the universe nudging me to move forward. I am at the threshold of many choices and many paths to follow and thinking that fasting might assist in my quest for next steps and soul's purpose. My biggest concern is withdrawal from caffeine. The few times I've attempted to fast, I was bed-ridden with debilitating migraines and couldn't go on. Any advice on how to not be paralysed with throbbing pain?

All my love,

Sabine
