Flight Arrangements
For your travel arrangements, please consider that the retreats will begin at 8:00am on the first day published and end around 1pm of the last day. You will want to check in the day prior to the listed retreat starting day. The evening before is included in the price of the retreat. You may want to plan on staying a couple of extras days if you can to allow for a nice gentle integration.
To book your tickets to Lima, you can check:
- Expedia.com
- Cheaptickets.com
- Vayama.com
- Spirit Airlines – if you are coming from the US.
To buy your local flight tickets Lima – Cusco (60 min flight,) you can choose either:
- Lan Peru (lan.com)
- Taca airlines (www.taca.com)
- Star Peru (www.starperu.com)
- Peruvian Airlines (peruvianairlines.pe)
All commercial airlines with on line service. The average cost of a round trip ticket Lima-Cusco-Lima is ± 100 to 150 US$ (depending on the season). There are no evening flights to Cusco.
Once you arrive in Cusco, take a taxi directly from the airport to Pisac. The taxis will usually ask about 100-120 soles for the trip. Do you best to negotiate (with a smile:) a price of 60-80 soles. Once in Pisac, you will go to Melissa Wasi. Its about 5 minutes from town center.
Staying more days before or after the retreat?
If you arrive in Lima prior to the retreat may we suggest two comfortable hostals in Miraflores. Both have transportation service from and to the airport (12 US$) and online booking. The cost of a single room is around 30 US$.

If you choose to stay in Pisaq, you can book a stay at Melissa Wasi (where the retreat is held) or in the town of Pisaq.
My recommendation in Pisac would be Chaska Wasi.
Payments
Please bring cash with you, either soles or dollars, on the first day as we will collect it once you check in. We do not accept credit cards, but there are ATMs in Pisac where you can withdrawal about $300 at a time, so please plan accordingly.
Visiting Machu Picchu
If you want to visit Machu Picchu, you can go from Cusco on a two-day, one night trip. The train to Machu Picchu departs from Cusco so you can either:
- Go to Cusco after the last day of the retreat and take the train the next morning. Or take a taxi (US$25 aprox.) from Pisaq to Ollantaytambo and take the train there on the same day.
In both cases the train goes to the town of Aguas Calientes where you can spend the night and visit Machu Picchu the next morning and return on the same day.
For the more adventurous type and for the same price as the train excursion, you can go on a 4day/3night hike and bike to MP. Check out the Inka Jungle Trek.
Vaccines
It is not necessary to have any vaccines to travel to Puerto Maldonado or Cusco. Many countries recommend it as a precautionary measure but in the last eight years there has been no report of malaria or yellow fever in these areas. Moreover the malaria pills have unpleasant side effects on the body.
Weather
We are at 2,800 m. (9,500 ft high) so the air is cool and dry during the night and sunny during the day.
- Bring warm clothes for the evenings as it can get cold, especially while fasting.
- Bring a hat, sun block and lip balm.
- Bring a bathing suit for the steam room.
- Bring rain poncho if you are coming during the rainy season (Dec – Feb).
Notes
- Only drink bottled water. You can buy it everywhere.
- Dollar exchange rate: US$ 1 (American dollars) = S./3 (soles).
- There is an ATM machine available in Pisaq town.
- Credit cards are normally accepted in hotels, restaurants, and stores in the city of Cusco and Lima but not in Pisaq.
- Electricity: 220 volts.
In Lima be careful with your personal belongings, camera, video and personal stuff because pickpocket theft in Cusco is common. If possible do not go out with valuable things. No worries once you arrive in Pisac however. It’s a safe, little haven.

See you in the Sacred Valley!
